Project Management Overview

Overview

This course provides an overview of the skills, tools and techniques of professional project management. It explains, at an introductory level, some of those key tools and techniques that are used to control projects so that they can be more successfully delivered.

This course also acts as a “taster” for our APM-accredited Introductory Certificate in Project Management course. That 2-day course finishes with a 1-hour multiple choice exam, with successful candidates getting the Introductory Certificate from the APM. The Introductory Certificate course is open to everyone, regardless of whether this course has been completed previously or not. See details of the Introductory Certificate course.

Target Audience

This course is suitable for Development and Regeneration staff of all levels of experience who have not had training in formal project management and are responsible for delivering projects. It is also useful for people who are involved in projects (as consultees or decision-makers) and who want to understand the broader context of project planning and delivery.

NB: project success is mostly influenced by how well schemes are set up. The discipline of project management is therefore even more important for New Business staff than for downstream colleagues. This is not always realised.
