Who We Are
Andrew Drury - Managing Director
Andrew is a qualified project manager and is a highly regarded and very experienced senior housing association practitioner, who has worked very successfully in the sector for over twenty years. He worked in housing association development, maintenance and housing management at a senior level before establishing his own consultancy, HATC Ltd, in 1994. He continues to provide senior interim management services.
Andrew has authored several national publications for the Housing Corporation, National Housing Federation, Dept of Communities & Local Government, Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy & the London Housing Federation dealing with affordable housing issues. He is also an active Board member of four housing associations, most recently with an LSVT RSL in Yorkshire, chairing the Audit & Performance Review Committee. Andrew was a Housing Corporation GOLD Expert Panel Member for the GOLD Award 2008, on the theme of Joined Up Development.
For the last 15 years, Andrew has delivered very successful and popular training courses for both the National Housing Federation and HATC.
HATC Associate - Wasim Khan
Wasim is also a very experienced consultant having provided interim management services at a senior level for L&Q, Asra and Horizon HG, as well as undertaking property development in his own right. He has 22 years knowledge & experience of new business development, regeneration and housing management services issues and is very target-driven, and very energetic. Recently, Wasim has been accepted by the Housing Corporation’s as a potential Statutory Appointee to assist them in their supervisory functions, a very welcome recognition of his experience and standing. Wasim is based in London, but works nationally.
HATC Associate - Dai Howels
Dai is an experienced Development Manager / Head of Development, having worked in HA Development teams since 1983. As a qualified town planner, Dia has recently worked with Harvest HG, then Unity Housing Association and Firebird jvc until August 2008, when he joined HATC. His main strengths are managing affordable housing projects, programmes and departments, covering regeneration, mixed use development as well as all tenures. Dai is based in Ilkley, but works nationally.
HATC also has specific links to a range of other consultants specialising in the social housing sector, and this collaborative network enables us to cater for a full range of client needs.
Associate - Sarah Greenlees
Sarah is a learning specialist with a high standard of training and consultancy skills gained in the private sector (Telecoms & Utilities companies) and housing regeneration. An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Sarah has extensive experience of devising and delivering training and learning programmes to managers and staff, and advising on planning and implementing organisational change.
Associate - Jeff Hanna
Jeff undertakes occasional work for HATC alongside his own consultancy. With twenty years of experience, Jeff has a strong background in local and regional housing policy and strategy, and the role of enabler, regarding planning and S106 issues.
Associate Consultant - Lesley Johnson
Lesley has worked for over 15 years on housing association regeneration, development and resident involvement initiatives and also has experience of establishing and managing the delivery of effective housing management services. Most recently Lesley has project managed large neighbourhood renewal and estate transfer projects across London and provided interim management services for the Development Director position in a London HA. Lesley and her partner have their own consultancy – Johnson Pancucci – specialising in communications.
Associate Consultant - Richard Broomfield
Andrew has worked with Richard Broomfield of Portfolio Development Consultancy for several years. Richard has worked in the property field for some 20 years and has wide experience in affordable housing development and procurement, project management and problem solving, having operated successfully at Director level at Bedfordshire Pilgrims HA and United Kingdom Housing Trust. Richard authored the NHF’s Delivering Affordable Housing – the NHF’s Development Guide. Andrew and Richard co-authored Online Project Management Procedures, the only Windows-based good-practice procedure guide written specifically for HAs that is available.
Associate Consultant - Jon Watson
Jon’s specialities are HA development, business planning and strategy developments, new initiatives and organisational change. With over 20 years’ experience at director level in Home Group, Jon has a national reputation in the fields of housing development, procurement, asset management and urban renewal. Since leaving Home Group his work has included setting up BoKlok UK a joint venture with IKEA to bring a new housing product to the market, as well as undertaking work for CIRIA with HATC and Joseph Rowntree Foundation and HBF on his own account. All this is fitted around the unfeasibly large amount of time that Jon spends sailing!
